Large rolling hills, the majestic Tokachidake mountain range and Daisetsuzen mountains, mysterious blue pond and blue river.

BIEIGUIDE snowshoe tour will show you the beautiful nature of Hokkaido, the emotional experience of fluffy snow, an amazing landscape of winter and some local area which is no tourists.
Walking in the fluffy snow with snowshoes, we can have an extraordinary experience of nature, impressed and oneness with nature.
BIEIGUIDE snowshoe tour will be opened to anyone who doesn’t have problems with normal walking. (children 6 years old and up)
Walking on snowshoes is not difficult. Your guide will kindly and politely explain how to use it and help you.
This tour is at a slow and leisurely pace because we want you to feel the nature of Hokkaido to the fullest. Even if you are worried about your physical strength or are not confident, you don't have to worry at all.
If you have a camera or want to take a lot of photos and videos with your smartphone, there is no problem at all. You can shoot at any time. Your guide will also help you with the shooting.

It will be better to wear the good enough warm clothes.
Heat-tech shirts is very useful. Fleece will also be easy and comfortable to move around.
Warm gloves and waterproof shoes/boots are required. Knitted hats and earmuffs are also very helpful.
Sometimes it doesn't feel so cold when we snowshoeing. But it will be important to be prepared.
Please don’t forget the winter outerwear or down jackets.
I always wear the sunglasses. Because I feel very dazzling even in the cloudy day.

Snowshoe tour on BIEI winter rolling hills Regular course
Beautiful hill scenery in Biei covered in pure white snow. A world of white that cannot be imagined from the colorful natural scenery of summer. Not touristy and quiet secret area. A leisurely snowshoe tour on the fluffy snow. Local guide will show you to secret areas.

Required time : 2 – 2.5 hours
Meeting place : In front of [Oka-no-kura] Biei Roadside Rest Area. Next to Hotel Lavenir near by JR Biei station.
The transfer from the meeting point to the snowshoeing location is approximately 10 minutes by car.
Tour time includes transfer and preparation time. The snowshoeing will be approximately 60 - 90 min.
We will be back to [Oka no kura] after snowshoeing.
* Basically, there are no restrooms at the snowshoe location, so please take care of that at [Oka no kura] before gathering.
* We won’t stop by any famous photo spots.

Snowshoe tour in winter forest and mysterious Blue river Regular course
Snowshoeing in the beautiful forest of Shirogane onsen area. As you walk into the quite forest, you will be able to experience a relaxing space surrounded by nature and a beautiful forest that can only be experienced in winter. Beyond the forest, you can see a mysterious blue river flowing through a world of pure white snow.
Tour period : 12th/Dec/2025 ～ 22nd/Mar/2026
Meeting time : AM tour 9:30 / PM tour 13:15
Required time : 2.5 hours
Meeting place : In front of [Oka-no-kura] Biei Roadside Rest Area. Next to Hotel Lavenir near by JR Biei station.
The transfer from the meeting point to the snowshoeing location is approximately 30 minutes by car.
Tour time includes transfer and preparation time. The snowshoeing will be approximately 60 - 90 min.
We will be back to [Oka no kura] after snowshoeing.
* It’s also possible to meet at Shirogane onsen area if you have a car or staying at there. Please ask us.
* Basically, there are no restrooms at the snowshoe location, so please take care of that at [Oka no kura] before gathering.
* We will be stop at Shirahige waterfall just like 5min for the photos.

Snowshoe tour in winter forest and mysterious Blue river Long course
Snowshoeing in the beautiful forest of Shirogane onsen area. As you walk into the quite forest, you will be able to experience a relaxing space surrounded by nature and a beautiful forest that can only be experienced in winter. Beyond the forest, you can see a mysterious blue river flowing through a world of pure white snow. You should take this long course if you would like to spend more relaxing time in the forest.

Required time : 3.5 hours
Meeting place : In front of [Oka-no-kura] Biei Roadside Rest Area. Next to Hotel Lavenir near by JR Biei station.
The transfer from the meeting point to the snowshoeing location is approximately 30 minutes by car.
Tour time includes transfer and preparation time. The snowshoeing will be approximately 60 - 90 min.
We will be back to [Oka no kura] after snowshoeing.

Snowshoe tour on Tokachidake spring mountain Regular course
The impressive mountain range of the Mt.Tokachidake. Amazing snowy scenery from mountain. A snowshoe tour where you can fully feel the energy of Hokkaido’s great nature. Feel a little scared and difficult to go up to the winter mountain? NO PROBLEM. An experienced local guide will guide you thoroughly. Of course, we will not go to dangerous places or unreasonable. Guide choose a route that suits the weather and your physical fitness. Now, challenge yourself to mini hike the snowy mountains of your dreams!
Tour period : 1st/Mar/2026 ~ 12th/Apr/2026

Required time : 4 - 4.5 hours
Meeting place : In front of [Oka-no-kura] Biei Roadside Rest Area. Next to Hotel Lavenir near by JR Biei station.
The transfer from the meeting point to the snowshoeing location is approximately 60 minutes by car.
Tour time includes transfer and preparation time. The snowshoeing will be approximately 120 - 150 min.
This is still very easy walking/hiking with snowshoes including some break time.
We will be back to [Oka no kura] after snowshoeing.

Q & A
Children aged 6 and older can participate in the tour.
It is possible depending on the reservation status. The fees differ from those of regular tours, so please inquire for details.
If you would like to adjust the start time, enjoy at your own pace, have small children, or want to fully enjoy Biei with a one-day plan, we will accommodate your requests as much as possible.
Please make the payment on the day of the tour.
We only accept cash in winter season. Thank you.
In the case of severe blizzards or whiteouts, the tour will be canceled. However, snowshoeing can still be experienced even with some snow or wind.
(Please note that the course may change depending on the weather.)
Cancellation 14 days - 7 days before the booking date: 50% of the tour fee
Cancellation 6 days - 1 day before the booking date: 100% of the tour fee
Cancellation on the day of booking date : 100% of the tour fee
NO cancellation fee will be charged if the public transportation stop due to bad weather or the guide decides to cancel the tour.
There are some public car park around JR Biei station.
